How to become a specialist Sports & Exercise
Medicine Physician in India?

Eligibility
  • MBBS from Indian/Foreign University recognized by NMC with 1 year compulsory rotatory internship.
  • Candidate should have permanent registration with NMC/SMC or obtain within 1 month of date of admission.
  • Foreign national or NRI has to obtain their Post-Graduation study registration from NMC.

If seats remain vacant, then they are filled via MOP-UP procedure of this counselling committee.

AFMS QUOTA (Only for AMC, PUNE)
  • Register with AFMS website for admission in 9 armed forces colleges across the country.
  • Admission process begins with Priority I > II > III > IV >V. PriorityV admission usually happens in the month of May.
  • A physical counseling session is held at AFMC. Everyone who has registered with the website gets an AFMS merit rank.
  • Counseling for the seats is held as per AFMS merit list. Candidate have to sign a bond of services for 5 years or 28 Lakhs (this may vary). The candidates who have picked up a seat have to undergo a medical examination over a period of 2 days at AFMC. Candidates have to make their own provision of stay during this period. Medical examination is conducted by specialists from – Medicine, Surgerey, Opthalmology, ENT, Dental, OBGY (for females). Candidates also have to undergo investigations like – blood, X-ray, USG. Overweight is a criteria to deem unfit.
  • Those who are deemed medically fit can join AFMC.
